Southwest Airlines Reports Continued Traffic Growth

Southwest Airlines continues to see traffic growth, according to the company’s newest numbers.

The carrier reported 10.9 billion revenue passenger miles in May, up 6.4 percent from the 10.2 billion RPMs flown in May 2015.

Available seat miles also grew by 4.6 percent to 12.6 billion in the same period.

Load factor in May finished at 85.8 percent, a record for that month, up from 84.4 percent in May 2015.

Overall, the carrier reported 111,802 trips flown in May, up 2.9 percent from May 2015.

Southwest has been expanding steadily in the Caribbean region, with new flights to both the Eastern and Western Caribbean.
