She’s promoted Jamaica and Anguilla over the course of her decades-long career, but now veteran Caribbean marketer Marie Deeble-Walker is trying her hand at something completely different: a pop-up jerk restaurant.
Jerk To Go will debut in June in New York City, offering a menu of Jamaican jerk specialties in an environment that recalls the vibe of 90’s Kingston and features custom art installations by local artist Michael Escoffery.
“I’m not a chef, but everyone knows how much I enjoy eating!” said Anguilla’s former director of North American sales and marketing. “The concept of Jerk To Go is to provide the food the world has come to love in individual kiosks within cities, eventually expanding to shopping malls and airports across the globe. And we’re starting by offering an authentic Jamaican experience right here in New York City.”
Find Jerk To Go at 46 W 116th Street on the Terrace of Mist Harlem. Opening hours are Monday to Friday from 4p.m. to midnight; Saturday, noon to midnight; and Sunday, noon to 10p.m. Brunch will be served on the weekend.
