Norwegian Cruise Line is making additions to Great Stirrup Cay

Cruise giant Norwegian Cruise Line has announced plans for a number of upgrades at its Great Stirrup Cay private island in the Bahamas.

The upgrades are part of a wider $400 million investment program called The Norwegian Edge that the company is undertaking through summer 2017.

The island will see a host of changes, including new luxurious amenities, new adventure activities, enhanced and expanded dining options and a new atmosphere.

In addition, the island’s 10-acre beach will include a new half-mile oceanside boardwalk that will span the length of the shore, with more than 100,000 feet of pathway.

There will also be a new zip line including 1,000 feet of line, offering a bird’s eye view of the island.

Norwegian is additionally planning to open a new taco bar called Abaco Taco (a complimentary dining option) and a LandShark Bar & Grill.

The new experiences will be highlighted by the addition of the “Exclusive Lagoon Retreat,” which will offer a secluded beach, a reception area, a lagoon with swim-up bar, luxury villas for rent and a restaurant called Silver Palm.
