St Lucia’s “Good Food” Revolution

A new project in St Lucia is aiming to revolutionize food production on the island.

The nonprofit organization RISE’s Good Food Revolution Project is looking to remove toxic chemicals and potentially harmful GMOs from the St Lucian food chain.

It’s also a call to action for farmers, retailers and consumers to grow, buy and consume organic.

Most recently, the country’s Ministry of Sustainable Development, Energy, Science and Technology, RISE and the Ministry of Agricculture to host an organic farmers training workshop.

The first block of training on the island will cover three months, training food growers in advanced organic practical techniques and developing organic plots.

The island’s Good Food Revolution Project has received funding from the UNDP GEF SGP, Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) and the Saint Lucia Hotel and Tourism Association.
