With an eclectic collection of hip hotels, the Jamaican enclave of Port Antonio is the country’s fastest-growing destination, according to new data from global travel giant Expedia.

Port Antonio, a still-largely-untouched area of the country’s far northeastern coast home to hotels like the Trident and the Geejam boutique hotel, has reported a 75 percent increase in travel demand, Expedia said this week.

That’s part of a wider 20 percent increase in travel demand for Jamaica overall.

Also showing growth? Jamaican destinations like Ocho Rios, which reported a 30 percent increase, and the South Coast, which saw a nearly 60 percent increase in travel demand.

The United States remains the largest source market for travel to Jamaica, with US travel to the island up 25 percent in 2015.

The numbers were released on the heels of the island’s JAPEX travel exchange conference.
