US Preclearance Coming to Punta Cana Airport

By the Caribbean Journal staff

United States Customs and Immigration is bringing US preclearance to the Dominican Republic’s Punta Cana airport.

The move, which was first announced last year, is expected to take effect beginning in May 2017.

It would allow US travelers to bypass US customs after their return to the states by going through US customs in Punta Cana.

The move would bring Punta Cana in line with several other Caribbean destinations that have already had US preclearance for years, including Nassau, Grand Bahama and Aruba.
