How to Live in Your Own Solar Bungalow in the Caribbean

It’s a popular fantasy: your own bungalow in the Caribbean. But what if also had its own energy source?

Enter Belize’s Itz’ana Resort & Residences, which is now offering one-bedroom waterfront cottages with solar panels.

The new phase of Itz’ana includes 27 more resort residences, from one-bedroom cottages to five-bedroom villas starting at $315,000.

The Placencia-based project’s developer, The Foundry Collective, is now offering financing on the one-bedroom solar cottages.

“The solar design improves the value to owners and also reflects our commitment to preserving Belize’s unique and pristine environment,” said Colin Hannan, partner of The Foundry Collective. “We wanted to create an incentive for further investment in sustainability and are delighted to officially introduce the Solar Cottage.”

The first phase of the residences will be delivered by March 2017, with phase two ready in August 2017.

The property’s resort component is slated to open at the end of this year.
