Sandals has sold its Grand Pineapple Antigua all-inclusive resort to Elite Island Resorts.

The sale, which will become effective May 30, 2016, will see the hotel renamed and rebranded as the Pineapple Beach Club under Elite Island Resorts’ ownership.

The 180-room resort, which is located on Long Bay in Antigua, will continue to accept bookings and remain open as its transitions to the new branding.

“We are very satisfied that our staff and loyal customers will be properly taken care of under the stewardship of Elite’s Chairman, Mr Rob Barrett,” said Gordon “Butch” Stewart, Chairman of Sandals Resorts International.  “Guests with bookings made for arrivals to Grand Pineapple Antigua after May 30, 2016 will be fully protected at the agreed upon rates by Elite Island Resorts and its sales team.”

Sandals operates a Sandals-branded resort, the Sandals Grande Antigua, which was the company’s first resort outside of Jamaica when it opened in 1991.

The company is also planning a Beaches-branded resort in Antigua.

Broadspan Capital LLC acted as the exclusive financial advisor to Sandals for the deal.
