St. Croix’s historic Hotel Caravelle has just reopened after a $2.5 million renovation.

The property has also announced plans to open a casino which it says is slated to open this year.

Improvements at the waterfront boutique in the capital of Christiansted include new furnishings and décor in all 43 rooms, and a revamp of the lobby, front desk and pool areas.

The redesign, which began in September 2015, was completed by architect Myrvang and his interior designer wife, Josie, who conceived the hotel’s new contemporary-tropical esthetic.

Their collaboration features the work of Crucian artists, including Don Diddam’s photography and textiles by Debbie Sun.

“Caravelle has been a landmark for the past 50 years,” stated Sid Kalmans of Hotel Caravelle. “With these incredible renovations, an amazing team and a great community, we are looking forward to another incredible 50 years of welcoming guests to St. Croix.”
