Haiti’s efforts to boost tourism appear to be paying off.

The Caribbean country reported a 10.9 percent increase in stayover visitors in 2015, according to the latest numbers from the Caribbean Tourism Organization.

That was the fourth-best increase of any Caribbean destination last year.

The country reported a total of 515,804 stayover tourist arrivals last year, buoyed by a strong summer season that saw an 11.4 percent increase.

Haiti reported a 9.8 percent increase during the winter season.

Haiti has seen a lift in hotel development in recent years, with the addition of several new hotels concentrated in Port-au-Prince like the Royal Oasis and the Marriott, the latter of which debuted last year.

That’s come with increased tour operation (most notably through Canada’s Transat) and more flights, in large part from JetBlue (though American Airlines launched daily flights to Cap-Haitien as well.)

Marriott also recently signed a deal to bring its Autograph Collection to the Habitation Jouissant property in Cap-Haitien.
