Expedia Says Demand For This Caribbean Island Is Surging

Antigua seeing a huge surge in travel demand right now, according to the latest travel data from Expedia.

The Eastern Caribbean island reported nearly 50 percent growth in travel demand via the company’s platforms in the third quarter of 2015.

The move comes as the country is ramping up its marketing push, particularly in the United States and particularly across digital platforms.

Overall, Caribbean travel demand surged by more than 20 percent in the same period.

Expedia’s top-producing market in the Caribbean was Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, which saw more than 15 percent growth, as did San Juan.

Aruba and Montego Bay were also among the company’s top-producing markets, with 30 percent and 10 percent growth, respectively, in the period.

“The Caribbean is an important, ever-growing market for Expedia group with more than 2,700 hotel partners currently in the region, and more than 1,000 new partnerships in 2015 alone,” said Demetrius Canton, Director of Lodging Partner Services for the Caribbean, the Expedia group. “We continue to focus on how we can better support our hotel partners and provide them with the ability to generate revenue and drive demand.”
