As part of its new series of calls to the British Virgin Islands, the Disney Wonder cruise ship made its first-ever visit to Tortola.

The new calls come as the territory has readied a major new pier park in Road Town.

“We are doing everything possible, as you come in to enjoy the amenities in the Virgin Islands, we are improving many of them,” said Minister for Communications and Works Mark Vanterpool. “You can see our new Pier Park that we have built in the front of you here to give you a better sense of arrival.”

The minister told the ship’s captain and his crew that the Park would give them a taste of the culture and history of the Virgin Islands.

Captain Fabian Dib said it was “absolutely fantastic” to sail into the port,” and presented a special gift to the officials during the receival ceremony.

“All this would not have been possible without the super support from the Port Authority, the Government of the Virgin Islands along with the businesses in the area. It is our pleasure to be here,” he said.

The Disney Wonder is a 294 meter vessel with a capacity of 2,700 passengers.
