The holidays are over and the first full work week of the new year has begun. But if your re-entry to reality has been a bit rough, well, we can relate. That’s why as soon as we get home we’ll be mixing up a pitcher of this Bajan rum punch. The traditional recipe, shared by Elegant Hotels (a portfolio of five resorts on the island where rum was born) is centuries old. But its results will make you feel brand new. Here’s to 2016!

Elegant Hotels’ Classic Bajan Rum Punch

Ingredients

1 measure  freshly squeezed lime juice

2 measures  simple syrup

3 measures  Mount Gay rum (the older, the better!)

4 measures of water

A dash Angostura bitters

grated nutmeg, to taste

Method

Mix all ingredients in a Collins glass over ice. Finish with a dash of bitters and grated nutmeg. Raise a toast to 2016.
