Bermuda Tourism Down in 2015

Bermuda is seeing continued tourism struggles in 2015, according to the latest data from the Caribbean Tourism Organization.

The island’s tourism arrivals are down 3.3 percent so far in the January-August period, according to the latest CTO data.

A total of 158,570 stayover tourists visited the island in that period; the winter season showed a 5.4 percent reduction in tourist arrivals, with a 2.4 percent drop in the summer season.

That was driven in part by a 17 percent reduction in Canadian tourism and a 13.2 percent fall-off from markets outside the US, UK, Canada and Europe.

Europe was the strongest market for Bermuda in the period, with a 14.9 percent increase in 2015.
