A Big New Hotel Opens in Haiti

Haiti has its first major all-inclusive resort in decades.

In what could provide a significant boost to the country’s inchoate tourism sector, the onetime Club Med property on Haiti’s Cote des Arcadins has been transformed into the new Royal Decameron Indigo Beach Resort and Spa.

The property, about one hour from Port-au-Prince’s Toussaint L’ouverture International Airport, has 380 rooms, according to the company.

It underwent a major renovation project ahead of the relaunch.

The property features a buffet-style breakfast, lunch and dinner, along with unlimited alcoholic beverages, beer, wine and soft cocktails (emphasis on the Rhum Barbancourt, naturally).

Also included in the all-inclusive offering is introductory scuba training at the pool, tennis courts and lessons, nightly entertainment and daily activities.

The property has two a la carte restaurant: Le Boucanier, focusing on Mediterranean cuisine, along with La Casserole Haitienne, focusing on “Haitian food fusion.”dec2

 

Right now, the company says it is offerings stays for as little as $84.50 per person per night.
