JetBlue Launching Year-Round Mint Service to Barbados

After less than a month, travelers to the Caribbean have spoken.

And so JetBlue is expanding its Mint premium cabin offering in the Caribbean.

The New York City-based carrier announced that it would be offering the Mint premium service on flights to Barbados year round.

The service had only launched last month, initially planned only as a seasonal offering.

“We announced seasonal Mint service to the Caribbean earlier this year with the goal of providing travelers with a new and unique premium travel choice to two of our most popular leisure destinations,” said Dave Clark, VP network planning at JetBlue. “The response from JetBlue customers has exceeded expectations on our Barbados route and we are thrilled to expand our Mint service to year-round for customers of this top destination.”

JetBlue will operate roundtrip Mint service on Saturdays between New York and Barbados.

Those flights will be operating daily, however, during the holiday season from Dec. 19 to Jan. 4.

In the summer period, JetBlue will be providing three roundtrip frequencies between New York and Barbados on Saturdays from June 18 through September 3.

“JetBlue’s announcement that Mint service will be featured on the Barbados route year round and that we will now have three services on Saturdays during the peak periods is a true testament to the success of our partnership,” said Petra Roach, U.S. director Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. “The demand for the extension is a validation that the premium product in Barbados is perfectly aligned with the expectations of the Mint customer. We are dedicated to further educating them on the premium destination that is Barbados.”

JetBlue is also offering seasonal Mint service on Aruba flights, although it has not yet announced plans to expand the service to year around.

The Mint service includes amenities like a tapas-style menu by New York restaurant Saxon+Parole, coffee from a specially-built cappuccino machine, amenity kits by Birchbox, dessert from Blue Marble and lie-flat seats.

Additionally, the northbound routes from Barbados include regionally inspired meals like pan-seared flying fish curated by a local culinary team (along with a welcome rum cocktail).

JetBlue offers the service on its Airbus A321 aircraft.
