Caribbean Sees Slight Rise in Hotel Occupancy

By the Caribbean Journal staff

Following a very strong September, the Caribbean hotel sector saw slower growth in October, according to the latest report from STR.

The region’s occupancy was 57.9 percent last month, a 1.2 percent rise over the same month in 2014.

That came after the region reported a 6.2 percent year-over-year jump in occupancy in September.

Also in October, Caribbean hotels saw a 4 percent rise in daily rates to $166.77 and a 5.2 percent jump in revenue per available room (RevPar) to $96.56.

STR’s hotel data surveyed 1,901 hotels comprising 229,219 hotel rooms in the wider Caribbean region.
