Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago are holding talks to review the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the two countries’ previous governments, according to Guyana’s Minister of Governance, Raphael Trotman.

Trotman said that President David Granger briefed Cabinet members on his recent trip to Trinidad, where he met with the newly elected Prime Minister Keith Rowley.

“The opportunity was taken to brief the Government of Trinidad and Tobago on the Guyana-Venezuela controversy and the need for CARICOM to have a common and strong position on this.”

Trotman also said that the parties decided to allow a joint commission to address projects that were flagged in the past, noting that this will strengthen bilateral relations between Guyana and the Twin Island Republic.
