Southwest Airlines flew 9.2 billion revenue passenger miles in September, an 11.4 percent increase over the same period in 2014, according to the company’s latest traffic statistics.
Available seat miles rose 8.4 percent to 11.1 billion in September, up from 10.3 billion in September 2014.
Load factor was a record for the September at 82.7 percent, up from 80.5 percent in the same month last year.
For the third quarter overall, Southwest flew 31.1 billion RPMs, up from 28.5 billion in the third quarter of 2014, an increase of 8.9 percent.
The carrier has been on an expansion push in the Caribbean region, with plans for more out of its new Houston Lobby Airport hub.
