Cruise Ship Season Begins in Dominica

By the Caribbean Journal staff

Dominica received its first cruise ship call of the 2015/2016 season this week.

The Carnival Royal Princess docked at Woodbridge Bay port, bringing thousands of visitors to the island’s shores.

“I think this ship has delivered beyond expectations,” said Phillip Guiste, who is the president of the country’s Combined Taxi Association. “We expect the season to continue in that vein and if it does, then it will be a great season.”

Cruises could help boost the economy of the island, which is still reeling from the effects of Tropical Storm Erika.

Dominica is projecting 174 cruise calls for this season.
