How to Celebrate Dia de los Muertos on the Riviera Maya

A special package for the holiday

In celebration of the Día de los Muertos, the Grand Velas Riviera Maya will be offering a special package with an exclusive itinerary of tequila tasting, Mexican cooking classes, gourmet dining, and spa time.

Guests will partake in a Mexican cooking lesson led by Ricardo la Vega, executive chef at Frida, the resort’s award-winning restaurant, followed by a private dinner on their suite’s terrace.

They will also be treated to samples of some of Mexico’s finest tequilas and mezcals.

The package also includes tickets to Xcaret, an eco-archaeological park, where guests will attend The Festival of Life and Death on November 2, as experience the Hanal Pixan ritual, as well as traditional Día de los Muertos cuisine such as candied pumpkin and pan de muerto, skull making, art exhibitions, theatre and dance.

Visitors will also enjoy a $50 USD spa credit to use at the resort’s award-winning spa, where they can indulge in the new Bacal Massage, an authentic Mayan treatment using one of Mexico’s most sacred plants, corn.

The Bacal Massage is just one component of the Spa’s Journey Through Ancient Mexico menu, which also entails a Coffee and Cocoa Experience, Mayan Jade Facial, and Mayan Shawl Massage.

The Día de los Muertos package starts at $5,600 for two people and is valid from October 18 to November 16.
