This is the Caribbean’s Best Airline Perk

Cayman Airways’ sweet touch

By Alexander Britell

Air travel isn’t getting better these days. Seats are narrower, service often an afterthought, especially on the big carriers.

But one airline has figured out that it’s the little things that make a difference when you’re 30,000 feet in the sky.

It isn’t a long flight from Miami to Cayman, but 20 minutes into every flight, a Cayman Airways flight attendant brings the beverage cart and a little taste of the Caribbean: a glass of rum punch.

And the best part is, it’s free.

Fruit juices, usually Appleton rum and a moment free of stress, reminding you of what you’ll soon be experiencing in the islands.

It’s a small thing, but feels a lot bigger when you’re flying over Cuba en route to George Town on Cayman’s national carrier.

The verdict? Other than its timeliness and its price, it’s also seriously good rum punch: sweet and smooth with just enough bite.

And that’s something worth toasting.
