Tropical Storm Erika was expected to move through the Leeward Islands of the Caribbean late Wednesday and early Thursday morning, according to the NOAA.

But while the storm had been strengthening early on Wednesday, the NOAA said Erika was “poorly organized” as of 8 PM on Wednesday night.

The storm was about 155 miles from Antigua in the evening, with winds at 45 mph.

A tropical storm warning remained in effect for Anguilla, Saba and Statia, St Maarten and St Martin, St Barth, Montserrat, Antigua and Barbuda, St Kitts and Nevis, Puerto Rico, Vieques, Culebra, the USVI and the BVI.

A tropical storm watch was in effect for Guadeloupe, the north coast of the Dominican Republic from Cabo Engano to Cabo Frances Viejo, the Southeastern Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Flights across much of the area were canceled for Thursday.
