JetBlue Airways is expanding its recently-launched Grenada service.

The company, which already operates flights from New York to Grenada on Thursdays and Sundays, will be adding a third weekly flight, according to Grenada Civil Aviation Minister Yolande Bain-Horsford.

The flight will operate on Tuesdays beginning Sept. 15, according to a government statement.

“JetBlue realizes that we need their services here in Grenada. They realize that the Caribbean is “it” and they are targeting the Caribbean, and Grenada is open and ready for that kind of targeting,” the Minister said.

The government also said a fourth flight was “in the making.”

“think our marketing strategy, along with theirs really helped. The connections, all the different meetings and links we have established with them have played a great role,” she said.

JetBlue, which has been on a major Caribbean expansion push, first launched flights to Grenada in June.

“They are really moving swiftly. They are looking down the line and they see how they can build and develop in Grenada,” Bain-Horsford said. “People are looking at the Caribbean now to travel and enjoy.. and so they are capitalizing on those efforts.”

A potential fourth flight could operate on Saturdays beginning in January 2016, according to the Minister.
