Jamaica’s Usain Bolt Wins Gold at World Championships in Beijing

Another gold for Bolt

It was the thinnest of margins. And that made the victory even sweeter.

The Jamaican superstar sprinter took home the gold medal at the IAAF World Championships in Beijing on Sunday, besting Americans Justin Gatlin and Trayvon Bromell with a time of 9.79, a margin of just one-one-hundredth of a second.

Bolt’s season-best time was good enough to remain the world’s fastest man.

Bolt had found some of his greatest nest in the Bird’s Nest stadium in Beijing, where he also won two gold medals at the 2008 Olympics.

Bolt had come in to the race in an unfamiliar position — as something of an underdog. Despite his overwhelming popularity, it was Gatlin — not Bolt – who was coming on a wave of victories, and this just might have been the toughest race of his career.

But with the late burst that has become his signature, Bolt emerged victorious in a photo finish.

Bolt has now won three world titles in the 100M.
