Big numbers for Grand Bahama

Grand Bahama is seeing a boost in tourism numbers in 2015, according to the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism.

The island has seen a 40.1 percent increase in year-to-date sales of room nights through June, with a total of 253,941 room nights, up from 181,248 in the same period last year.

That’s been driven in part by working with partners like Sunwing Travel Group and Balearia, among others.

Sunwing specifically sold 76,538 room nights in June, a 90.52 percent increase year over year.

“The Bahamas’ tourism industry continues to reap the results of all of its hard work and dedication from both the public and private sector. The increase in business is a direct result of the combined, strategic efforts across the board,” said Bahamas Tourism Minister Obie H. Wilchcombe. “We still have lots of work to do, but we are on the right track.”
