A New Way to See Kingston

First tours launching in Jamaica’s capital

While Montego Bay remains Jamaica’s tourism hub, the city of Kingston is looking to position itself in a new way for travelers.

The Jamaica Urban Transit Company has launched its new Kingston City Tour Service, aimed at giving both locals and visitors an opportunity to see the city in a new way.

“We recognise that a significant number of Jamaicans, who live in these areas and some who visit from other parishes, are not very aware of the history, the culture, the music and the dance that is associated with the city,” said JUTC’s Manager for Marketing and Corporate Communications, Clinton Clarke.

Clarke said the organization wanted to undertake a more “coordinated” approach to touring the city.

The tour, which officially launched at the beginning of this month, heads to four locations, including the Bob Marley Museum, Independence Park, the Trench Town Culture Yard and Tuff Going Studios, among others.

The company is also planning more tours, including a Port Royal Experience called Yo Ho Ho and a Bottle of Rum.
