By the Caribbean Journal staff

Haiti is showing continued growth in stayover tourist arrivals, according to recently released data from the Caribbean Tourism Organization.

The Caribbean country reported 166,029 stayover arrivals in the first four months of 2014, up 9.8 percent compared to the same period in 2014.

The 9.8 percent rate is one of the highest growth rates of any Caribbean tourism destination, bested only by Aruba, Cuba, andTrinidad and Tobago.

In 2014, Haiti received a total of 465,174 stayover visitors for the year, up 10.8 percent from the previous year.

Haiti’s numbers have been boosted in part by new flights from American Airlines and JetBlue.
