The 19th annual Dominican Republic Jazz Festival has announced its lineup of performers, which will include artists David Sánchez, John Patitucci, Pedrito Martinez Group, Josean Jacobo, Big Band Conservatory of Santo Domingo, Roy Assaf Trio and Berklee Global Jazz Institute with Marco Pignataro.

The festival, which is presented by the Dominican Ministry of Tourism, celebrates four nights of free concerts from November 5-8 in the seaside tourist towns of Sosua, Puerto Plata and Cabarete.

In past years, the festival has welcomed Latin Grammy and Grammy Award winning musicians including Ignacio Berroa, Joe Lovano, Chuck Mangione, Ray Baretto, Néstor Torres, Chucho Valdés, Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez and Arturo Sandoval, among many other artists.

Last year’s event reached a combined attendance of 12,000 music lovers, both locals and visitors alike, and provided free music workshops taught by internationally renowned musicians to over 1,500 school children.

The celebration is famed for its combination of tropical climate, Caribbean culture, and Latin-style jazz.

While the festival is free, VIP tickets are available and provide priority seating, complimentary beverages and other festival perks, with proceeds benefiting the music foundation FEDUJAZZ, a non-profit which conducts music workshops for the youth of the Dominican Republic.
