Two big festivals are being held in Grand Bahama this summer, the Ministry of Tourism announced this week.

The Goombay Summer Festival will take place at Grand Bahama’s Taino beach, running from July 2-30.

The festival will feature Bahamian culture and heritage, and will be held on Thursdays, with the exception of Independence Day, for which the special celebration will take place on Friday July 10.

The Junkanoo Summer Festival will then begin July 31, running every Friday through August 21 at Sunset Village, in Eight Mile Rock.

The festival will be “a massive fusion of Junkanoo rush outs and cultural expression for the entire family,” said, Betty Bethel. Director of Tourism for Grand Bahama. “Attendees can enjoy the best of the west, with Eight Mile Rock’s signature Fish Fry experience and the nostalgia of the West End Move.”

Festivities will also be held in West End on Saturdays from August 1 to 22.
