A major new conference held its inaugural event on Thursday, with Miami Caribbean Code bridging the worlds of the tech sectors in Miami and the wider Caribbean region.

Miami Caribbean Code, or MC2, is the brainchild of Eveline Pierre, the founder and executive director of the Haitian Heritage Museum in Miami.

The conference addressed issues from tech innovation to developments in the regional startup industry.

Panelists included Jason Ibarra of Startup Grind Miami, Daryl Doonie of Cinium, Aisha Bowe of STEMBoard, Stephanie Pavolini of Enterprise Florida, Anie Akpe of Innov8tiv Magazine and Carlos Vazquez of Enstitute, among others.

Caribbean Journal Editor-in-Chief Alexander Britell also moderated a panel at the conference covering the technology sector in Cuba.

The conference also held a ceremony Thursday night honoring the best in Caribbean tech innovation.
