NEW YORK — JetBlue continues to expand its wings in the Caribbean.
The airline opened its newest route from New York’s JFK Airport to Grenada, the Caribbean’s original “Spice Island,” on Thursday.
Dave Clark, JetBlue’s vice president, network planning, said Grenada was the carrier’s 32nd destination in the Caribbean and Latin America.
“Just in time for summer travel, we are thrilled to introduce this non-stop service from NY to one of the most naturally beautiful destinations in the Caribbean,” he said.
The flights will continue on a twice-weekly schedule from New York to Grenada’s Maurice Bishop International Airport.
The service will operate each Thursday and Sunday on a 150-seat Airbus A320 aircraft.
Travelers can touch down in Grenada by 2 PM via this five-hour flight.
In Grenada, white and black sand beaches, natural waterfalls and the world’s first underwater sculpture park create the diverse landscape of this 133-square-mile island.

Activities range from wreck diving and rainforest treks to monkey spotting tours and dingy music concerts set on a floating stage.
Culinary travelers can sample the island’s famous nutmeg spice and dark chocolate and visit the oldest rum distillery in the Western Hemisphere.
A newly refurbished Sandals LaSource Resort rounds out the island’s array of accommodations and amenities.
At the New York launch event for the inaugural flight this week, Grenada’s Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation Yolande Bain-Horsford, wrapped up the comments.
“Just come to Grenada,” she said. “Love is all you need.”
