After a strong 2014, Montserrat has seen a sharp reduction in tourism so far this year, according to the Caribbean Tourism Organization.

In 2014, the tiny island near Antigua saw a 22.2 percent increase in tourism arrivals, with a total of 8,804.

But this year, Montserrat is seeing a sharp drop in arrivals, with just 1,158 visitors in the first quarter of 2015, according to the Caribbean Tourism Organization data.

That represented a 9.4 percent drop in arrivals in the first quarter.

While tourism from the US was actually up 4.6 percent, the island saw drops of 12.4 percent and 7.4 percent from Canada and the UK, respectively.
