Nickelodeon is getting into the Caribbean tourism game, and now Viacom’s popular children’s brand has broken ground on its first resort project.
The $92 million Nickelodeon Punta Cana broke ground this week, with completion slated for the summer of 2016.
The Karisma Hotels and Resorts project is expected to create around 1,200 direct jobs upon completion.
Dominican Republic President Danilo Medina was on hand to turn the first stone.
The 204-room, five-star resort will target family travelers.
