Caribbean hotel occupancy surged in April, according to a new report from STR.
The region’s hotel occupancy rose to 75.6 percent last month, a 4.6 percent improvement compared to the same month in 2014.
That was the 12th month in a row in which the Caribbean saw an increase in year-over-year occupancy.
For the year, hotel occupancy stood at 77.2 percent for the region through the end of April.
In the same period, average daily rates rose 1.9 percent to $211.17, with RevPar rising to $159.61, a 6.6 percent improvement in April.
April’s occupancy improvement was the strongest of any month for the region so far this year, and the strongest since December 2014.
STR data surveyed 1,924 hotels comprising 229,693 rooms in the region.
