After a poor showing last year, St Vincent and the Grenadines’ tourism sector has rebounded strongly so far in 2015, according to data from the Caribbean Tourism Organization.

The country welcomed 20,658 tourist arrivals in the first three months of 2015, up 5.9 percent over the first quarter of 2014.

That comes after a 2014 in which the country saw a 1.4 percent reduction in tourist arrivals.

The growth was driven by a 10.3 percent increase in arrivals out of Canada and a 12.2 percent increase in arrivals from Europe, according to the CTO data.

On the cruise side, growth was slower, with a 1.6 percent increase in the first quarter for a total of 48,816 cruise passenger arrivals.
