Prevailing seasonal high winds are continuing to affect some flights by regional air carrier LIAT.

Flights in Dominica and St Vincent and the Grenadines are among those particularly affected.

In a statement, the carrier said teh conditions were likely to continue through until mid-June.

“Customers travelling to/from both countries are advised of the possibility of cancelled flights and delayed baggage,” the company said.

According to LIAT, its aircraft have tailwind limitations set by manufacturers, and are not permitted to take off or land when the prevailing winds are beyond such limits.

The company said departure out of St Vincent’s ET Joshua Airport and night landings into Douglas-Charles Airport in Dominica are affected by tailwinds “and therefore the decision to cancel flights is taken in the interest of safety.”

The winds have also led LIAT to restrict the number of bags on the aircraft due to restricted take-off weight.
