Jamaican superstar Usain Bolt will be competing at the upcoming IAAF/BTC World Relays Bahamas in May, the local organizing committee said Tuesday.

The Jamaican Athletics Administrative Association confirmed that Bolt would be on hand at the event, which takes place in Nassau on May 2-3.

“The LOC is elated about the news that the world’s fastest man will be competing at this year’s World Relays. We encourage all Bahamians to purchase their tickets for this Bahamazing event,” said Lionel Haven, managing director of the local organizing committee.

Around 1,000 athletes and coaches from 47 countries are slated to participate in the event, which will be held at Nassau’s Thomas A Robinson National Stadium.

“I’m happy to be part of the Jamaican team for the IAAF/BTC World Relays in the Bahamas,” Bolt said. “I am fit, healthy and ready to run.”
