When it comes to diving and snorkeling, Bonaire is right at the top of the list in the Caribbean.

But it’s quietly been developing a rather significant culinary scene in recent years.

That’s why the island has announced that it will be hosting its first-ever culinary month.

Bonaire Cuisine Month will run the entire month of May, an initiative aimed at showcasing the “varied selections of culinary treasures that Bonaire proudly offers its visitors, while supporting local businesses during the shoulder season,” according to the Tourism Corporation Bonaire.

Last year, Bonaire’s At Sea restaurant was the number one restaurant on Caribbean Journal’s 50 Best Caribbean Restaurants ranking.

“The Bonaire Cuisine Month program allows Bonaire to leverage the trend of culinary tourism by showcasing Bonaire’s gastronomic offerings while chefs unleash their creativity on diners’ palates,” said Malinda Hassell, Marketing Manager of Tourism Corporation Bonaire. “The varied menus of Bonaire’s restaurants and eateries, give us the opportunity to impress our guests. The program will encourage them to share their culinary experiences via social media which as we all know is the norm today.”

The month will include prix-fixe menus, signature cocktails and entrees and other specials.
