Florida-based Silver Airways has signed a codeshare agreement with JetBlue, the two companies announced Monday.

The majority of the transfer opportunities will be in JetBlue’s Orlando and Fort Lauderdale focus cities, although later this year the partnership will expand to 13 Silver Airways routes from Florida to the Bahamas.

The latter is subject to receipt of regulatory approvals; the codeshare means customers can book one ticket and check their baggage through to their final destination.

Silver Airways has become a major carrier from Florida to the Bahamas in recent years, now operating more flights between Florida and the Bahamas than any other carrier.

“We are delighted to expand our partnership with JetBlue to a full codeshare,” said Sami Teittinen, CEO of Silver Airways. “This codeshare partnership will further strengthen both of our networks, providing business and leisure customers with even more travel options to and within Florida and The Bahamas.”
