Head’s up, jerk lovers! There’s a new place to get your fix of the fiery Jamaican barbecue.

Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort Villages & Spa opened its new Jerk Shack and Appleton Rum Bar earlier this month, smack on the white sands of Grace Bay in Providenciales.

The al fresco eatery offers jerk chicken and pork; steamed fish in foil; and traditional Jamaican sides such as deep-fried bammy and festival, as well as roast yam and corn on the cob. Guests who like it hot can dress their feasts with several sauces made from Scotch Bonnet peppers. Add a cup of fruity rum punch, made with the famous Jamaican rum, for the perfect pairing.

Truth be told, we’re not sure if the Jerk Shack can beat the flavorful fare at our favorite Jamaican jerk pit, Scotchie’s. But, hey, considering that Beaches is Jamaican-owned, we’re willing to give it a try – or two.

It’s actually the second jerk shack to open this year at a Sandals-owned Turks and Caicos all inclusive, following the debut of the Jerk Pit at Sandals Grande Riviera Beach in Ocho Rios last month.
