How Caribbean Hotels Began 2015

The Caribbean hotel sector showed a 2 percent increase in occupancy in January, according to new data from STR Inc.

The company’s latest report showed occupancy in January at 74.1 percent, up from 72.6 percent in January 2014.

Average daily rates rose by 2.3 percent to $230.60, with revenue per available room rising by 4.3 percent to $170.84 in the same period.

The region’s hotels concluded 2014 at 69.8 percent occupancy, a 1.5 percent improvement compared to 2013.

STR surveyed 1,915 hotels comprising 227,908 rooms in the wider Caribbean region.
