St Lucia is looking to strengthen ties with its diaspora community to boost the country’s tourism sector.

The St Lucia Tourist Board has launched a new programme called “Se San Nou,” ours, designed to boost ties with St Lucians abroad.

The goal is to tap into the diaspora community to create a network of “tourism ambassadors.”

The SLTB said it would be offering training for members of the diaspora to become “Diaspora Touchpoints.”

The ambassadors would receive marketing materials, merchandise, a quarterly newsletter and more, with prizes awarded for lead generation.

“Members of our Diaspora are in a unique position to share their love and knowledge of their home with others,” said SLTB director of tourism Louis Lewis. “They are an untapped resource who can be passionate advocates and help contribute to Saint Lucia’s leading tourism industry.”

The programme has already launched in the United Kingdom, with launch events to come in New York, Toronto and Washington, DC.
