It’s Dominica, through the lens.
The Eastern Caribbean island is continuing last year’s inaugural “Dominica Film Challenge” this year, gathering videographers from around the world to compete to chronicle their travels.
The event includes six teams of videographers from across the world; the teams arrived in Dominica on Saturday, beginning their odysseys with a whale-watching excursion.
The teams were chosen following a global search for “teams of adventurous filmmakers,” according to the Discover Dominica Authority.
The teams will spend around a week on the island, telling “the story of Dominica in their own creative way,” either in a short film, photography project or a social media endeavour.
“Dominica is the secret Caribbean paradise we have all dreamed of,” said Michael Kraabel, executive producer of the Dominica Film Challenge. “It’s the perfect location for an eclectic mix of filmmakers and storytellers to experience something extraordinary—and then to document the experience for the world to see.”
The challenge takes place from March 2 to March 6.
The final projects will be posted online for a public vote to determine the winner in mid-May.
“We welcome an opportunity to showcase a truly authentic Nature Island experience through the lenses and written words of the expedition teams,” said Colin Piper, director of tourism in Dominica.
