When Montreal-based Transat debuted its first travel packages to Haiti, it was largely alone in making a bet on Haiti’s still-nascent tourism sector.

Now, Haiti is a rising tourism destination in the Caribbean, and Transat is expanding its footprint on the island.

Transat announced Tuesday that it would be introducing new vacation packages to Haiti, with both seven and 14-night “traditional” packages.

Both include roundtrip flights, transfers and accommodations at one of three hotels in Port-au-Prince or one of four resorts on the beaches of the Cote des Arcadins.

“Designed to meet a growing consumer demand, the new packages allow visitors to explore a destination more freely at their own individual pace,” the company said. “Tourists can either opt for a less ordinary beach vacation experience on the Côte des Arcadins, or immerse themselves in city life in Port-au-Prince.”

The participating hotels include the Best Western Premier the Royal Oasis by Occidental, the Karibe Hotel, Club Indigo, Kaliko Beach Club, Moulin sur Mer and Wahoo Bay Beach Hotel.

The company offers a weekly flight between Montreal and Haiti’s capital.

“Transat Holidays is the only tour operator offering this type of stay in Haiti,” the company said. “It is pleased to distance itself from its competitors by enhancing its vacation offer in Haiti and contributing to local economic development.”
