St Kitts and Nevis has officially sworn in Dr Timothy Harris as the twin-island federation’s new Prime Minister.

Harris and Team Unity, a collection of Opposition parties, won the country’s elections on Monday.

Harris was sworn in during a ceremony at Government House on Wednesday, with the oaths of office administered by resident judge Marlene Carter. Governor General Sir Edmund Lawrence presented the instrument of appointment.

“I pledge as the Prime Minister of the country to uphold all Oaths that I have taken, to work diligently for the prosperity of the country and equally important, the deepening of the democracy,” Harris said. “We commit to fairness and a fairer share for all.”

The country also swore in Vincent Byron, Jr as the country’s new Attorney General.

St Kitts and Nevis will swear in the country’s new Cabinet in due time.
