A group of United States Senators visited Havana this week.

The lawmakers included Virginia’s Mark Warner, Missouri’s Claire McCaskill and Minnesota’s Amy Klobuchar.

The group aimed to support a bill that would lift the longstanding US embargo on Cuba, and the Senators also sought to explore potential opportunities for each of their states.

The State Department also announced this week that the US and Cuba will begin their second round of normalization talks next week, it was announced this week.

The two sides launched talks during a visit by Roberta Jacbson, US Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs, to Havana last month.

Cuba’s side is being led by Josefina Vidal Ferreiro, director general for the United States at Cuba’s Foreign Ministry.
