The island of Grenada received 133,521 tourist arrivals in 2014, according to new data from the Caribbean Tourism Organization.

That represented an 18.4 percent increase over 2013, the highest rate of any CARICOM member state.

The country’s tourism sector was boosted by a very strong summer season that saw a 21.1 percent increase over the same period in 2013.

During the winter tourist season, Grenada posted a 13.6 percent improvement.

The island’s sector was buoyed in part by the debut of the new Sandals resort early last year.
