China is planning to continue its housing construction project in Grenada.
Grenada Housing Minister Delma Thomas said this week that the country’s government had signed a new agreement with China for “additional houses.”
Grenada’s Foreign Minister, Clarice Modeste Curwen, has signed an agreement to begin “putting structures in place for the construction of over six hundred new housing units,” according to a statement.
“In March we would see a team of persons coming down to look at the lands, and we will start the work some time later on,” Thomas said. “I do not want to give you a deadline because these things take time.”
Another 1,000 housing units are in the pipeline.
“There’s also another one thousand houses that we have negotiated for from the Chinese again and that too will be in a second phase,” she said.
The first batch of homes in the programme began distribution last week at the Mt Gay site, with another 20 units set to be distributed on Thursday.
