Grenada Announces Appointment of New Macroeconomic Advisor

Grenada has announced the appointment of A. Michael Batiste as the country’s new Macroeconomic Advisor.

Baptiste will be based in the Ministry of Finance and Energy, according to a government release.

A native of Trinidad and Tobago, Baptiste is an economist and public policy analyst whose “whose experience spans the public sector, multilateral financing institutions and independent consulting,” according to the government.

His previous stints have included consulting and capacity building assignments in regional countries including Guyana, Jamaica, Dominica, the Bahamas, St Lucia and Suriname.

Most recently, Baptiste supported St Kitts and Nevis’ Ministry of Finance in the implementation of their IMF structural adjustment programme.

Baptiste’s priorities will include Grenada’s “Homegrown Programme,” a public sector investment programme and capacity building in macroeconomic management.
